- Emphasis on the role of personal hygiene, including handwashing, protective clothing, and personal conduct.
- Requirements for keeping equipment and tools clean to avoid contaminating water supplies.
- Avoiding Contamination in the Workplace
- Procedures to prevent contamination during activities such as repair, maintenance, and installation work.
- Safe handling, storage, and disposal of materials to protect water quality.
- Working Safely in Treated Water Environments

Upon successfully completing the course, participants are issued with an EUSR Water Hygiene "Blue Card," which is valid for three years and recognised by employers across the water industry.
Renewal
To maintain certification, workers must retake the course every three years to ensure they are up-to-date with current hygiene standards and practices.
