Course Content:

CKR1 – Domestic Gas Cooking Appliances The CKR1 module covers the core knowledge and practical skills required for safe handling of gas cooking appliances in domestic settings, including:

Gas Safety Legislation and Standards

  • Reviewing the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations and other relevant industry standards.
  • Understanding responsibilities and legal requirements when working with domestic gas cooking appliances.

Installation and Positioning of Cooking Appliances:

  • Safe installation of gas cookers, ovens, and other domestic gas cooking appliances.
  • Correct positioning of appliances, ensuring adequate clearances from walls and other surfaces, in line with manufacturer instructions and safety standards.

Ventilation and Flue Requirements:

  • Understanding ventilation requirements for gas cooking appliances to prevent the build-up of harmful gases.
  • Identifying when additional ventilation or flueing may be necessary to ensure safe operation of appliances.

Connection to the Gas Supply Safely:

  • connecting gas cooking appliances to the gas supply using flexible hoses or rigid piping as required.
