This Level 3 qualification is designed for qualified electricians and renewable energy professionals looking to expand into battery storage. You'll learn about energy storage technology, system design, installation, testing and commissioning, including how battery systems can integrate with renewable technologies such as solar PV.

This Level 3 Battery Storage qualification is designed for appropriately qualified electrical professionals who want to develop specialist knowledge and practical skills in Electrical Energy Storage Systems (ESS).
Throughout the course, you'll develop your understanding of battery technologies, system components, design and sizing considerations, installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance and fault finding.
You'll also explore how energy storage systems can operate alongside technologies such as Solar PV, including grid-connected and off-grid applications, while developing the skills needed to work with battery storage equipment safely and effectively.
Specialist renewable training for electricians: this qualification builds on existing Level 3 electrical competence and current BS 7671 knowledge. It is not an entry-level electrical course.

5. Entry Requirements
Before registration, learners must provide evidence of both:
- A current Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671, commonly known as the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- A recognised Level 3 electrotechnical qualification, apprenticeship qualification, experienced-worker qualification or accepted equivalent.
Accepted qualifications may include:
- Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment.
- Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrotechnical Services – Electrical Installation or Maintenance.
- Level 3 Electrotechnical Apprenticeship Qualification.
- Level 3 Electrotechnical Experienced Worker Qualification.
- Level 3 Electrotechnical in Dwellings Experienced Worker Qualification.
- Building Services Engineering Level 3 Electrotechnical Installation Qualification.
- SVQ in Electrical Installation at SCQF Level 7.
- Other equivalent qualifications accepted under the current EAS Qualifications Guide.
Alternatively, applicants may provide a current ECS Gold Card issued by the JIB or SJIB in one of the following occupations:
- Installation Electrician.
- Approved Electrician.
- Maintenance Electrician.
- Domestic Electrician.

This is not an entry-level electrical qualification. All qualification evidence must be checked and approved by Kelly Energy Training before registration.

6. Assessment
Assessment includes both written and practical elements.
The written assessment checks your understanding of energy storage technologies, system design, installation procedures and relevant safety requirements.
You'll also complete a practical assessment demonstrating your ability to apply appropriate installation, testing and commissioning procedures to an Electrical Energy Storage System.
The assessment checks both your technical understanding of Battery Storage systems and your ability to apply that knowledge in practice.
