HTR1 – Domestic Gas Fires and Wall Heaters The HTR1 module covers the essential knowledge and practical skills required for the safe handling of domestic gas fires and wall heaters, including:

Gas Safety Legislation and Standards: 

  • Reviewing the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations and other relevant industry standards.
  • Understanding responsibilities and legal requirements when working with domestic gas fires and heaters.

Installation and Positioning of Gas Fires and Heaters

  • Safe installation procedures for gas fires and wall heaters, including positioning requirements to ensure safe distances from flammable materials and adequate clearances.
  • Understanding manufacturer specifications for positioning and securing appliances to meet safety standards.

Flueing and Ventilation Requirements:

  • Ensuring correct installation of flues to safely remove combustion gases from the appliance.
  • Understanding ventilation requirements to prevent the build-up of carbon monoxide and other harmful gases, and knowing when additional ventilation is required.

Connection to the Gas Supply

  • Safely connecting gas fires and heaters to the gas supply, ensuring secure and gas-tight connections.
  • Verifying that the appliance is connected in compliance with industry standards and manufacturer guidelines.

Commissioning of Gas Fires and Heaters:
