S3: Verifying proper backfill materials and compaction to prevent road subsidence. The New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA) supervisor qualifications are designed to ensure that those overseeing street works have the skills to monitor operatives' safety and quality standards. Under current guidelines, the 16 original units have been restructured into certificates with new codes (LA, S1–S7).
Description
The primary aim of the Supervisor course is to provide the knowledge required to monitor, inspect, and supervise street works safely and legally on public highways. Supervisors do not perform the physical work but must ensure that operatives adhere to the NRSWA 1991 Act and relevant Codes of Practice.
