The City & Guilds 2391-52 Level 3 Award in Initial and Periodic Inspection and Testing of Electrical Installations is designed for experienced electrical professionals who want to develop their competence across both new and existing electrical installations.
Throughout the course, you'll develop your understanding of safe isolation, inspection procedures, electrical testing methods and the documentation required for both Initial Verification and Periodic Inspection & Testing.
You'll also gain practical experience using electrical test instruments and completing key documentation, including Electrical Installation Certificates (EICs) and Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs).

5. Entry Requirements
This qualification is designed for experienced electrical professionals and is not suitable for learners with limited electrical installation or Inspection & Testing experience.
Learners should already have an appropriate Level 3 electrotechnical background together with a current BS 7671 Requirements for Electrical Installations qualification.
Because 2391-52 covers Periodic Inspection as well as Initial Verification, candidates should also have sufficient practical electrical experience to assess the condition of existing installations and make appropriate technical judgements.

6. Assessment
Assessment includes a combination of theoretical, practical and written elements.
You'll complete a written examination and assignments covering the requirements and procedures associated with Initial Verification and Periodic Inspection & Testing.
Practical assessment will require you to demonstrate appropriate inspection and testing procedures, use electrical test equipment correctly and complete the associated electrical certification and reporting documentation.
The assessment checks both your technical understanding and your ability to apply Inspection & Testing procedures correctly in practice.
